Here are some area organizations that are welcoming extra assistance during the COVID-19 crisis.
Please review the information for each organization to discover ways you can help during this time.
There are six ways you can partner with Wheeler Mission—Bloomington.
Consider making sack lunches for our guests on Mondays and/or Fridays. Considering the uncertainty of the coronavirus, we are asking for assistance for this particular opportunity through June 1st (possibly longer) to alleviate our food inventory and our very small food service team. We very well may need sack lunches every day if our foodservice rep goes down. Please consider donating, assembling, and delivering bagged lunches every week or once between now and June 1.
Consider making handmade masks for our guests and foodservice/housekeeping volunteers. At this point, Wheeler Mission-Bloomington needs as many masks as possible to plan accordingly.
Consider collecting, purchasing, or donating any of the following needed items. Donations can be dropped off at the Wheeler Mission—Bloomington Center For Men (215 S. Westplex Ave., Bloomington, IN 47404) at any time.
To allow Wheeler Mission—Bloomington to ensure our guests practice adequate social distancing in our day room, Master Rental Company has donated and installed a (heated) tent just outside our Center For Men facility. We are in need of two new (or used), 50” Roku televisions (that will have the ability to connect to our WiFi) and two new (or used) DVD players so guests within the tent can be well-informed of important announcements and activities taking place at Wheeler Mission—Bloomington and within the surrounding area. These can be delivered to the Wheeler Mission—Bloomington Center For Men (215 S. Westplex Ave., Bloomington, IN 47404) at any time.
Wheeler Mission—Bloomington desperately needs volunteers to pick up donations as our frontline staff have to stay in place to adequately care for our guests.
If it's easier to make a financial gift, please know it will be put to immediate use to support Wheeler Mission—Bloomington's guests in their time of need. You can safely and securely make an online donation to “Bloomington-Area” on our website.
If you have any questions, please direct them to Josie Rice, Wheeler Mission—Bloomington's Community Outreach Coordinator. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or (317) 752-3824 (call/text).
